Wiltshire Council has installed three Vehicle to Grid (V2G) charging units at its main operational hubs, thanks to grant funding, and a partnership with our Joju Charging team and Hangar 19. Each unit includes two charging points and uses smart technology to help reduce energy costs and improve efficiency across the council’s electric vehicle (EV) fleet.
Unlike standard EV chargers, V2G technology allows energy to flow both into the vehicle and back from the vehicle to the building or grid during peak times. This helps reduce reliance on grid electricity when demand and cost is highest.
The system is programmed to ensure vehicles are always fully charged when needed, while also supporting the council’s wider sustainability goals.
Wiltshire Council currently operates more than 100 EVs, with around 50% of all fleet mileage now powered by electricity each month. The new V2G units will help maximise the value of this investment by enabling smarter energy use and reducing operational costs.
