OVERVIEW
The Shires shopping centre in Trowbridge, offers “great shopping for all the family in the heart of Wiltshire”, and now they’ll be doing it with clean energy! The centre’s larger tenants will use The Shires self-generated solar power, with the help of 582 solar panels and some very clever tech.
The single 300kWp array has multiple inverters, which effectively creates smaller, contained arrays, delivering energy to specific parts of the Centre including the Car Park and Boswells Café. The set-up also includes four separate MPANs and two landlord supplies.
THE INSTALL
Installing in a busy town centre with high traffic levels and significant footfall, brings challenges of course… especially when combined with the overall complexity of the installation. However, Joju has been installing solar for twenty years and our teams are highly experienced in ensuring works run as smoothly and efficiently as possible.
The carefullyplanned programme was delivered over four weeks, including two weeks of roofing works. Out‑of‑hours working was incorporated to power down and energise the new distribution boards too.
THE KIT
The Shires 300kWp system includes 582 DMEGC Solar 515Wp modules, 5 Solis inverters and a Van Der Valk Flat Roof mounting system. It will generate 260,498 kWh/Year, which equals the yearly electricity used by roughly 60 to 70 typical homes. It will also save 41.52 tonnes of CO2 every year.
