Ever since Joju Charging was set up to support the transition to electric vehicles, installing EV charging infrastructure in public car parks has been our bread and butter.
We’ve installed in hundreds of council car parks across the country, partnering with Dorset Council, Bournemouth Christchurch and Poole Council, Winchester City Council, Reading Borough Council, Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council, Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council, Isle of Wight Council, New Forest District Council, Hampshire County Council and many more… and we’ve won multiple awards for our work.
Our focus is always on installing the right charge point in the right location, depending on driver need. Will drivers be away from their vehicle for a couple of hours for instance, or do they want to be able to top up quickly and be on their way?
We install a mix of AC and DC charge points for excactly this reason, although more recently we’ve been installing DC charge points in greater numbers, and developing rapid and ultra rapid charging hubs for councils who want to offer drivers a quicker charge.
As more drivers switch to electric vehicles, and with thousands of council-owned car parks, utilising some car parking spaces for electric vehicles is a straightforward way for local authorities to provide the volume of EV charge points needed. This transformation is happening at scale and pace and we’re excited to continue to be at the heart of it.

We’ve been working with Dorset Council since 2019 to expand the roll out of EV Charging infrastructure for residents and visitors across the county. Over three phases, we’ve installed fast, rapid, and ultra rapid chargers in car parks in over 20 towns and villages. It’s making charging more accessible, convienient and reliable.
There’s much more to come too! Dorset Council aims to get 80% of Dorset households within a 10-minute walk of a public charge point by 2030, with thousands more chargers planned.
